Young Women Christian Association of Ghana (YWCA) is urging Ghanaians to desist from domestic violence and assault against women.
According to the president of the association, Mrs.Vera Naana Appiah, maltreatment, assaults and disrespect against women is gradually getting out of hand in our country. Meanwhile, the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVSU), the police service, women groups as well as Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection have refused to take action against perpetrators to serve as deterrent to others.
Speaking to the press,Mrs.Vera Naana Appiah indicated that what happened to Miss Patience Osafo at the Midland Savings and Loans Company by the policeman, Corporal Frederick Godzi Amanor (Skalla) is a clear example of how females are mistreated in society.
She says her outfit will continue to campaign against domestic violence and assault among women in the country .
Women must be highly respected, we must show them love, kindness and support at all course. She said.
Expressing her worry over how some women are being maltreated, she pleaded with the government and the gender ministry to put up proper policies and measures in favor of women to enjoy their freedom and right.
